Imagine how much better developed the rest of the world would be if western powers just left them alone instead of wrecking their countries for not paying financial fealty. It’s literal mafia tactics.
I don’t wish to be contentious, but In answer to all those regretting what Iran has become, i did read many years ago that Iran’s troubles, religious revolutions etc, could have been avoided, had a US and UK coup not been enacted to topple a socialist prime minister and install the Shah, who apparently wasted huge amounts of public money while he was in power, causing social unrest.
Mossadek I think was the prime ministers name? I probably spelled it wrong.
People also forget that these pictures were mostly of the upper classes and even elites. Iran was very religous too back then. Otherwise they would never got the power.
Iranian women are hot, you can’t just see it anymore. In the 70s, we had a couple of Iranian women in our business school, and they were attractive. One of them was actually stunning, could have been a model.

This is so sad. This is what 90+% of Iranians wanted then and want now.
