  1. In the Pantanal, Jaguars are the undisputed apex predators both on land and in water. This, along with the wide diversity of prey items allows them to grow to massive sizes, though that’s not to say they have it easy. Otter romps can prove to be a nuisance with their nasty attitudes (especially in water as seen here) and can make even the largest males think twice about confronting a romp of Otters.

    Here we see a brave, young Jaguaress (likely no older than 2.5-3 years old) attempting to scare the otter romp into backing down. A very feisty girl.

  2. The thing is, River Otters may not look like it, but are Apex Predators themselves, i doubt the Jaguaress would stand much of a chance if she decided to attack the Otters…
