  1. Dan Patrick every race be like: Dick Trickle finished 37th. It wasn’t until I was older that I appreciated his dedication to the bit.

Trickle used to keep his cigs in the car with him.

  2. NASCAR’s oldest Rookie of the Year ever, at the age of 47 – although by then he was a veteran of circle track racing in the Midwest.

  3. I used to work for a company that was based in rural NYS. I traveled to HQ one day, and it was NASCAR Driver Day as a fun thing (a bit foreign to me, as that’s not much of a thing where we are). I got “who’s your driver” a bunch that day, and Dick Trickle was my choice, as that’s the only one I could conjure up at first when asked, and I stuck with it. Most chucked, one guy shook his head and said “you’d think he’d go by ‘Richard.’”

  6. Damn dude I didn’t know Dick Trickle killed himself. Shit. Guy had chronic pain and the doctors couldn’t find the source. RIP you and your epic name. I didn’t even watch NASCAR and I knew who Dick Trickle was. 12 year olds don’t forget something like that.
