One day in 1839, a man by the name of Robert Cornelius sat for 15 minutes in front of a hand built camera made of opera glass and sheets of copper. His picture became the first “selfie” ever taken.

  1. There is an interesting book by Simon Winchester “The Alice Behind Wonderland”. It is about Lewis Carroll’s life in academia and his relationship with the Liddell family but just as much about the very earliest days of photography. If you are interested in such things….

  4. It’s shocking to me that it’s so sharp. His shutter speed was 15 minutes. If I take a pic of my cat at 1/60th of a second and it moves at all they are blurred. That was one very still dude.
