    After shopping his writing around with no luck, he got his mother, an editor at the NYT, to give it to her friend, the wife of the editor of the New Yorker.

  2. I first read Kitchen Confidential 22 yrs ago when I was in restaurant mgmt and worked with a great chef. Instantly he was one of my favorite authors ever from that book alone. And have loved reading and watching him since. RIP.

  3. I will say it every time his stuff is posted. I love that man. Watching A Cooks Tour and No Reservations as a kid/young teen rewired my brain. I would love to cook for a living. maybe someday I will, but right now I cook for my husband and its my favorite thing ever
