They met in college at Northwestern University when she auditioned for and joined his comedy troupe, The Practical Theatre Company. They were both later cast on Saturday Night Live in 1982. Here’s a pic of them from SNL in 1983.

The first time I saw Julia Louis-Dreyfus, she was playing the snarky neighbor on a short-lived 80’s sitcom called “Day by Day.”
The show was mid at best, but she stole every scene in which she appeared. As usual.
She’s a national treasure.
