The first hand in the clip is mine. I didn’t film it, but the bunny actually climbed up onto my bare foot and licked my toe! He had no fear of humans.
My wife, who has always been reluctant to adopt a pet, was so smitten that she wanted to take him in, but we haven’t seen him again since this was filmed.
Not to rain on your parade but something similar happened to me when I was young. We found a baby rabbit like this abandoned by their mother. Turned out the rabbit was sick and died soon after. Might want to have a vet give it a once over if you’re gonna keep it.
If a rabbit’s eyes are open, it’s out on its own, and its eating plants, it’s no longer nursing. This is a juvenile for sure but its not as young as people seem to think.
Source: Every year I find rabbit nests while mowing and have done a lot of research on how to make sure mama rabbits will come back or if its safe to move babies, as well as contacting wildlife sanctuaries.
yeah I agree w the other commenter… I think the bunny is sick. it’s a wild cottontail, it should never be okay being so close to humans, much less having them touch it. it’s also veeeery young and seems to be out midday (alone) which is also a bad sign. hopefully it’s okay and it found its way back to its mom/nest
I was taught that when baby buns are the size of a tennis ball, they are old enough to survive without their mother. Also, their main defense mechanism at this age is just holding still & due to that, they will not seem afraid of people.
Bruh we have bunns that make their home in our backyard garden.
One time he had friends over and when it was time to say goodbye he led his friend out to the front. They left thru the hole in our fence but one scurried off and our freeloader went back inside like he owns the place! Smh.
I wonder if there is a risk that the mother would reject the baby after you touched it. There is a baby rabbit that hangs out in my back yard. It’s so cute.

Whew… I read that title totally wrong! Thought it said beheaded.

While it may be cute, wild rabbits have fleas (almost always) so keep an eye out and make sure to check yourselves and any other pets you may have.

If this was Australia, I’d be concerned. Wild rabbits here have diseases.
I wish you could teach bunnies to swear.
😍😍❤️❤️

I read “befriended” as “beheaded” at first and was heavily concerned 😂
Wow! My goodness, the sheer size of the baby. Tiny!!!
Thanks for loving them!
Why tf did I read this as beheaded? Momentarily Horrified
And the mother abandoned her baby because of human scent. Wise decision to go pet wild animal babies.
Your son is a pianist, by any chance?
Looks like your son is a certified Disney princess! 😉
Your son is too awesome for words!!
And Baby blade of grass for baby wabbit !!
Aww sweet baby rabbit, maybe leave some grated up carrot for him.
As soon as their eyes are open and ears unfolded, they are generally on their own.

Aww heart of gold and his nails are very beautiful. I wish I could paint them for him LOL
